August 2018 – Sailing in Peloponnese!

This time, a long trip south to the Peloponnese. The trip requires a superb rib boat which sails the waves with maximum comfort and reliability to arrive safely to our customer. Akeydor boat cruises uses Skipper 7.80 with Suzuki DF250 to deliver the boat to one of our customers and his family in Southern Peloponnese where the family will enjoy several days sailing around the peninsula, skiing and doing banana with the children! We used the Skipper 7.80 and after the necessary preparations, the boat was loaded to its trailer for the drive to Kalamata port in the south.

Akeydor rib boat was transported to Kalamata port in utmost safety, to arrive to our customer’s hands on time. Skipper was launched in the port, and Akeydor’s crew sailed to Stoupa in perfect weather, 4000 RPM and about 25 knots with little wind. We arrived at a wonderful secluded spot in Southern Peloponnese, and moored the rib boat with safety to deliver it to the new family for their vacation in Peloponnese.

Akeydor’s rib boat, Skipper, sailed around to the southern part of Peloponnese, visiting several places such as Stoupa, Gerolimenas, Limeni and Diros caves. A wonderful, secluded area in the Peloponnese which can offer so many magnificent views and tranquility that one will never forget. We sailed slowly, in tranquility, admiring the numerous picturesque villages along the Mani coastline, with the endless Mani – stone castles full of history and legends!

A few miles south of Stoupa, one can admire the wonderful Limeni with the unique Mani – stone castle housing architecture. We are now in the heart of Mani, a magnificent historic area of Peloponnese, full of history and local legends of the past. We entered the old bay of Gerolimenas, which at the time was full of cruiser and fishing boats resting in the bay. Children playing at the pebble beach, and friends resting at the several stone architecture coffee places and taverns. A paradise in the heart of Mani itself! The old lighthouse lights the huge rock above it in green and yellow colors, making Gerolimenas a unique place in the early evening.

We entered Methoni town at sunset, at the final leg of our long trip to Peloponnese. Methoni is a wonderful small town in Messinia, with its castle having a wonderful view of the Aegean sea far ahead, and a long history with knights and pirates. The view from the peripheral of the castle is magnificent, and takes you to another era long back in time!

Akeydor’s rib boat sailed back to Kalamata in safety and with pleasant weather, leaving behind us a happy family full of pictures, experiences and great adventures in the heart of Mani!
